No Plans To Remaster Witcher 1 And 2 For PS4: CD Projekt

The current focus is completing The Witcher 3.

In a recent community Q&A by PlayStation Access, Damien Monnier, the senior gameplay designer of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was asked whether CD Projekt are looking to remaster or port The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings to the PlayStation 4. Damien stated that although the idea sounds cool and they talk about it sometimes, there are no plans for it.

Their focus is on completing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, its free DLC and then Cyberpunk 2077. “That will be really cool but we have no plans to do that honestly. We talk about it sometimes about wouldn’t it be cool to do it…but right now first we need to finish the game. After that we have a lot of DLC, we have Cyberpunk 2077. It’s a beautiful game as well but I can’t talk about it. First we need to focus on Witcher,” he said.

CD Projekt claims that you don’t need to play the first two games in the series to understand the events of The Witcher 3. So in a way, it makes no sense to remaster the first two games for the PS4 or for that matter, the Xbox One as well. Additionally, I don’t think CD Projekt will fall into the remastered bandwagon as they are a team that is focused on raising the bar higher every time they release a new game.
