God of War looks like it will most likely be one of the biggest game releases of the year. The hype around the game has continued to build up as it has received amazing review scores from most major publications. As for how big the game’s launch will be, NPD analyst Mat Piscatella stated on Twitter that it could be the biggest exclusive debut on the PS4 yet.
It’s certainly possible that God of War’s sales will surpass that of other successful PS4 exclusives such as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Horizon Zero Dawn. Uncharted 4 had sold a total of 8.7 million units by the end of 2016 and Horizon Zero Dawn has sold about a total of 7.5 million units. However, the brand recognition combined with the critical acclaim that the game has been receiving, it’s quite likely that God of War will overtake both these games in terms of sales.
God of War is now available exclusively for the PS4.
