NPD Group: Call of Duty Infinite Warfare Tops 2016 Game Sales

Battlefield 1 close behind.

The NPD Group has revealed its report for the best-selling games of 2016 in the United States. Unsurprisingly, despite all the negativity leading up to it, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was the overall best selling game of the year with Battlefield 1 in close second. The latter actually managed to generate 10 percent more dollar revenue compared to 2015’s Star Wars: Battlefront, which is pretty good all things considered.

In third place was Tom Clancy’s The Division followed by NBA 2K17 and Madden NFL 17. Grand Theft Auto 5, which released back in September 2013, came in sixth place followed by Overwatch in seventh. It’s worth noting that the NPD Group doesn’t have access to Battle.net sales so the hero shooter’s sales are likely much higher.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is in eighth place, another amazing feat since it released in November 2015, while FIFA 17 and Final Fantasy 15 rounded out the charts. Despite its low place, Final Fantasy 15 was actually the best-selling title on PS4 along with selling 19 percent more physical units and generating 54 percent more total dollar revenue (digital included) over Final Fantasy 13.
