After the mayhem of Gamescom, the NPD has released its report for video game hardware and software sales in the United States for the month of July 2014. Unsurprisingly, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us was the top selling for the month with both the PS3 version and PS4 Remastered edition contributing to great sales.
It was already revealed by Sony that PS4 software was outselling Xbox One games “by a considerable margin” but July’s sales are understandable considering the complete lack of other titles.
Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U – which released in May end – stood strong at fifth place in the NPD’s top ten. Sniper Elite 3 for the PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 also did decently enough at eighth place, especially since it’s one of the few big name games to have released last month. Keep in mind that the NPD doesn’t track digital sales so overall figures for games will doubtlessly be higher. Stay tuned for more information.
