That Nvidia is doing better on the market than their competition AMD isn’t exactly news- but the sheer, staggering extent of the difference in the degrees of their success probably will come as a shock to many. Speaking in response to a statement made by AMD about how bottlenecks in memory production are holding back GPU production as well, Nvidia’s CEO CEO Jensen Huang said “we are 10x bigger than our GPU competitor, so we have a lot more suppliers…supplying us.”
The statement actually does hold up, as ResetEra points out, at least if you were to assess this from the perspective of market cap- Nvidia’s market cap is $131 billion, while AMD’s is $10 billion- and AMD does a lot more than just GPUs, too.
Nevertheless, the original point being made here was that there is a chronic shortage of GPUs on the market, thanks to memory supply constraints- even if Nvidia is bigger than AMD, I have to imagine they are affected by market forces such as these nonetheless, though I also imagine they are affected to a smaller extent.
