Corporations are stealing our jobs, food and the roofs over our heads. And apparently our user subscription data (dun dun dun). Of course several companies have been trawling your user data, buying habits ever since the advent of the Internet, but Nvidia appears to have hopped onto the data-mining bandwagon as well.
Kotaku covered a disheartening, but completely expected change in Nvidia’s policy vis-a-vis its Geforce Experience software. The good news is that the new Geforce Experience user interface looks gorgeous. In terms of design language, Nvidia’s finally decided to move beyond Bundled Alienware Software, Circa 2011. The emphasis on flat design gives it an understated elegance, and it’s much easier to navigate.
The bad news is that now, you can’t use Geforce Experience at all without registering an account with Nvidia. This naturally means you’re also locked out from Shadowplay streaming and recording unless you sign up. Of course, this isn’t a much of an issue in the bigger scale of things, considering that lots of other corporations are privy to your data, but it does grate.
