Octopath Traveler is “Finished Product”, No DLC Currently Planned

Producer Masashi Takahashi assures players of a complete experience.

Among the major releases coming this Summer, especially in the exclusives department, is Octopath Traveler for the Switch. The Square-Enix produced RPG made an impact with its gorgeous aesthetic that combines 3D environments and effects with 2D sprites. Out in July, it currently has a three hour demo available on the Nintendo eShop.

If you’re interesting in picking up the game, then progress from the demo will transfer. Perhaps more interesting, however, is to hear producer Masashi Takahashi talk about the lack of DLC. When speaking to Dengeki Online, Takahashi revealed that “the product version is the finished product.” There’s currently no DLC planned.

It doesn’t sound like much but considering that one of Square Enix’s major titles this generation, Final Fantasy 15, has become a little infamous for its excessive DLC, this is somewhat of a relief. Octopath Traveler will be roughly 60 hours of playtime for those who complete the main story. If one pursues the side content along with that, then they’ll have roughly 80 to 100 hours of gameplay in total.

Octopath Traveler is out on July 13th for Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned for more details on it in the coming weeks.
