Oddworld Inhabitants’ long-delayed Oddworld: Soulstorm is out now for PS4, PS5 and PC via the Epic Games Store. Taking place directly after Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, the story sees Abe saving his fellow Mudokons (all 1,400 of them) and leading them against the Magog Cartel. Check out the launch trailer below to see it in action.
As a re-imagining of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, Oddworld: Soulstorm offers 2.9D platforming on a bigger scale than previous titles. Players can scavenge materials and use them to craft various weapons and items to gain an advantage. The Quarma score system also returns, encouraging one to save as many Mudokons as possible for the best ending.
Oddworld: Soulstorm is about 20 hours long though the developer ensures that completionists can replay it for “dozens” of hours. The PS5 version is free for PlayStation Plus subscribers this month while the physical edition for PS4 and PS5 arrives on July 6th. While the PS5 version runs at 1440p/60 FPS, the PS4 version runs at 1080p/30 FPS.
