Oddworld: Soulstorm Runs at 1440p/60 FPS on PS5, Offers 20 Hours of Gameplay

The PS4 version runs at 1080p/30 FPS.

Oddworld Inhabitants’ Oddworld: Soulstorm is out next week after number of delays and will be coming to PS4, PS5 and PC. Set directly after Oddworld: New ‘n Tasty!, it’s a re-imagined version of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, providing a much bigger scope and plethora of mechanics like crafting and issuing commands to Mudokons. Speaking to WCCF Tech, creator Lorne Lanning offered a plethora of new details.

As revealed back in June 2020, the sequel will be a timed console exclusive for PS4 and PS5. “PlayStation believed in us and our game and was willing to financially support us in our development. It was a great opportunity with a great partner. They have already proven to be amazing including us in several of their digital showcases.” Lanning also praised the Epic Games Store for its coverage in various showcases.

Lanning also revealed that the game would take 20 hours to complete on one’s first playthrough, which is higher than the 10 to 12 hours stated in GamingBolt’s interview. Of course, he re-affirmed that one could spend “dozens of hours” replaying the game. In terms of performance, Soulstorm will run at 1440p resolution and 60 FPS on PS5 while the PS4 version runs at 1080p and 30 FPS. Oddworld: Soulstorm is out on April 6th worldwide. The PS5 version will be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers next month. Stay tuned for more details en route to its release.
