First person dungeon crawlers have been rather hit-or-miss lately, but Zen Studios’ Operencia: The Stolen Sun is probably the exception. The RPG is available now for Xbox One (including Xbox Game Pass) and PC via the Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. Check out the launch trailer below.
What makes Operencia interesting is its setting. Borrowing from Central European mythology and folktales, the story sees players exploring the land after the Sun King Napkirály goes missing. The presentation is fairly compelling with hand-drawn cutscenes and 30 fully voiced roles.
With 13 levels filled to the brim with puzzles, seven party members to upgrade, numerous difficulty settings (including permadeath), and over 50 enemy types, there’s quite a lot to sink one’s teeth into. Operencia: The Stolen Sun also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so you can play it on both Xbox One and PC even if you purchase it for a single platform. The title will hit Steam in 2020.
