Persona 5 Gets Its Very First Review, Scores An Almost Perfect 39/40

Persona 5 debuts well in Famitsu.

Persona 5 is here- at least in Japan, where it launches in less than 10 days. This means that it’s now time for Japanese reviews and impressions on the game to be coming in, if nothing else, meaning that we should soon know whether or not Atlus’ newest masterpiece will live up to the insane hype surrounding it (far before we get to ever play it, here over in the west).

The good news is, it sounds like the game is off to a flying start, as far as review scores go- Famitsu has scored the game a 39/40 (via Gematsu), with three of the four reviewers scoring it a perfect 10, and one scoring it a 9. They have made note of the game’s length (over 80 hours to completion) as well as the staggering amount of content, that will keep players busy for hours upon hours.

This makes it the highest rated Persona game of all time, the highest rated Atlus game of all time, and the highest rated game of this generation so far. It also makes it higher rated than most Final Fantasy games. In other words, it’s a great result that we hope will be replicated here in the west, too.

Persona 5 is out on September 15 on PS3 and PS4 in Japan, and on February 14 in Europe.
