Persona 5 Ships 550,000 Copies In Japan, Gets Catherine and Swimsuit DLC As Celebration

Becomes the highest selling game in Atlus' history in Japan.

Persona 5 may be a few months from release here in the west, but in Japan, it launched earlier this month, where it promptly appears to have gone on to become a major success. How major? Since launch, Persona 5 has shipped 550,000 copies across the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, making the game the highest selling Persona game, and indeed, the highest selling Atlus game period, ever in Japan.

Atlus will be celebrating this milestone in style- today, the company announced that Persona 5 is getting two new DLC costume packs- a free bikini set on October 5th, and a Catherine themed costume set that will be available for ¥800 only between October 5th and January 10th (while being made available for free for a limited time as a promotion).

Meanwhile, all of us here in the west are going to have to wait to get our hands on the latest and greatest Persona game- it launches here on the PS3 and PS4 on February 14.
