Phantom Blade Zero Developers Showcase Gameplay and Combat in Live Hands-on Demo

Phantom Blade Zero's developers also reveal that the game is inspired by Wuxia and Devil May Cry, despite its Souls-like influences.

During IGN Live 2024, developer S-Game took to the stage to offer a deep look at the gameplay of upcoming action RPG Phantom Blade Zero. Check out the 24-minutes long hands-on showcase below.

The showcase features localisation lead David Zheng and S-Game founder Soulframe, who take us through some of the different aspects of Phantom Blade Zero in a hands-on, live gameplay demo. Rather than showing any story beats, the demo presented at the event focused on the game’s combat.

The showcased demo was designed to try and showcase as much of the core combat of Phantom Blade Zero as possible, with different encounters highlighting different aspects of the game, as well as different weapons.

Zheng points also points out during the demo that, while Phantom Blade Zero does appear to be inspired by Souls-styled games, the combo-centric combat system is closer to games like Devil May Cry, as well as things like Chinese martial arts and Wuxia.

Phantom Blade Zero also recently got a new trailer that showcased its combat and boss fights. The game is coming to PC and PS5, but doesn’t yet have a release date.
