Pillars of Eternity Sells Over 500,000 Units Worldwide

Obsidian "can't wait to share" what's next for world of Eora.

Obsidian Entertainment’s crowd-funded RPG Pillars of Eternity has achieved some pretty good success since releasing in March this year. According to the developer, the game has sold more than 500,000 units worldwide. This includes digital copies purchased by those who backed the project on Kickstarter as well.

CEO of Obsidian Feargus Urquhart stated that, “Every one of these milestones, from the completion of our crowdfunding campaign to the game’s release and beyond, is a surreal moment when you consider where this journey began. Pillars of Eternity has been a life-changing experience for me, and for everyone involved in its creation.

“Knowing that over half a million people have gotten to share in that is both flattering and humbling. I want to deeply thank all of our fans and supporters. We can’t wait to share what we’ve got next for the world of Eora.”

Obsidian is working to further expand on Pillars of Eternity in the near future. The first part of The White March expansion is already out and plans are underway for a sequel. There will also be novels from the lore team and a tabletop game called Lords of the Eastern Reach.
