PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Getting FOV Slider In July Update

But first person mode is still a little while away.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the hit multiplayer survival sensation on PC, will be getting a new update later this month that will be adding a long requested feature to it at last- an FOV slider. FOV sliders can be crucial in preventing motion sickness, among other things, and are a fixture in most first person games.

Of course, BattleGrounds is not a first person game, it is a third person game- that said, its FOV is narrower than most third person titles, which leads to it having the same kind of effect on players that first person games can often have. This should hopefully help stem the problem.

That said, a first person mode will be coming to the game, too- but it will be taking a little while longer. “Dedicated first-person servers will take some time as it requires a lot of work from all teams, [it’s] not as easy as just flipping a switch,” said Brendan ‘Playerunknown’ Greene on the official PUBG Discord. “Our game, platform, engineering, and gameplay teams all need to do work to make it happen, and they are all quite busy with optimization work at the moment!”

So that’s fair- for now, might as well enjoy it in third person. The game is available on PC, and will be getting a release on the Xbox One later this year as well.
