PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Hits 1.96 Million Peak Concurrent Users on Steam

Bluehole's insanely popular Battle Royale game is closing in on 2 million concurrent users.

Bluehole’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds may have seen a few setbacks including controversy with microtransactions and the developer taking umbrage with Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode. However, the Early Access title seemingly can’t be stopped in terms of popularity, hitting 1.96 million peak concurrent users on Steam recently.

Considering it was nearly impossible that any game, let-alone PUBG, could beat Dota 2 in terms of Steam popularity, this is pretty amazing. The game is close to 2 million peak concurrent users and has already sold more than 10 million copies since launch. Hilariously, even with its popularity, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds still has an overall “Mixed” rating on its official Steam page.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be properly releasing on PC in 2018 but it will also arrive later this year for Xbox Game Preview on the Xbox One. Xbox One X support is also confirmed and while Microsoft is assisting the developer, Bluehole could still launch the game on PlayStation 4 next year.
