Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that as of November 2nd 2013, the PlayStation 3 has sold 80 million units worldwide since its release in November 2006. The console has seen many iterations since its release, with the original piano black model eventually making way for the PS3 Slim and eventually the Super Slim.
Sony has also revealed that the total number of software titles for the console as of September 30th has reached 4,332 worldwide (not including downloadable games). Most of those are third party titles, but there are a fair number of exclusives that make up that list as well including The Last of Us, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, Killzone and many, many more.
While the PlayStation 4 is set to launch on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe, with plans to eventually replace the PS3, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for SCE Shuhei Yoshida has maintained that the company will continue to release games for the console in the coming months.
