Sony CEO Kaz Hirai announced during the company’s presentation at CES 2017 that the PlayStation 4’s sales have crossed 53.4 million units worldwide.
It was also noted that the console sold 6.2 million units between November 21st to January 1st with software sales during this period passing 50.4 million units. With 50 million consoles reported sold worldwide on December 6th, the holiday season offered quite the strong increase for the PS4 heading into the New Year.
Though PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro sales were likely included with the overall worldwide figure, Sony hasn’t revealed how much they contributed to the total. And though Hirai noted at CES 2017 that PlayStation VR was selling well, actual sales figures weren’t provided. There are still plenty of VR titles inbound so the headset is far from dead.
