Pokemon GO is currently taking over the world- but even the most ardent fan and defender of the game can’t possibly think that the game has any chance of continuing to be as all pervasive and dominant in public consciousness as it is right now forever. Eventually, the game is likely to burn out, and be less of a viral hit, and more of a fixture on the charts that continues to pull in strong numbers regardless.

That is also the view of Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, who recently shared his opinion on the long term success of Pokemon GO– according to him, the game will almost certainly begin to lose popularity once the initial shine wears off, because of the sheer effort involved in playing the game.

“The game requires couch potatoes to get off the couch, and the novelty will wear off when they get tired or when their phone batteries die,” Pachter said. “I give this four months at the top of the charts, then it will fade.”
