The newest entry in the mainline Pokemon series, Sword and Shield, and is out there doing what Pokemon does: dominating the sales charts as well as dominating your time playing it. As always with the series, there’s also add-ons that come and go. With last year’s Let’s Go series there was the Poke Ball Plus, a device that simulated throwing a poke ball along with some other digital perks. Well, it seems that may not have been a one and done considering new patents.
Five new patents emerged (thanks to Japanese Nintendo for translation work) all relating to what appears to be a new version of the Poke Ball Plus with improved freedom and light emissions. You can see one of the images below.
The Poke Ball Plus was a neat idea, but one that didn’t have a lot of use. It also annoyed some people as it was also the only way you could get Let’s Go’s 151st Pokemon, Mew, in the original release. What kind of things will they try to do with an updated model if these patents pan out? Who knows, but I imagine it’ll have something to do with throwing a poke ball. Just a guess.
