Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Top Weekly Japanese Retail Charts for Third Week in a Row

The RPG duo sold over 310,000 physical units in Japan in its third week. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope also debuts in the top 10.

Famitsu’s latest weekly charts for hardware and physical software sales in Japan have been published, and for the third week in rowPokemon Scarlet and Violet are in pole position. The RPG duo sold over 31,000 units over the course of the week, and maintain a healthy lead on top of the charts. Meanwhile, Splatoon 3 continues to post impressive numbers, hanging on to the second spot with nearly 39,000 copies sold.

In third place is Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. The turn-based strategy title released in western markets in October, but only saw its Japanese release last week. It has debuted high in the charts, selling over 17,000 units. Compared to its predecessor, however, it has seen a steep drop-off in sales- upon its launch in 2017, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle sold over 86,000 physical copies in Japan.

On the hardware front, the Nintendo Switch holds steady (more or less), seeing only a slight dip in sales as compared to last week, with over 152,000 units sold. The PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S, on the other hand, have seen a significant reduction, selling over 27,000 units and over 4,000 units respectively.
