It isn’t to anyone’s surprise that Pokemon Sword and Shield have enjoyed absolutely ridiculous sales since their launch last month. Other than enjoying the series’ best ever launch in the US and having sold nearly 2.5 million units in Japan by now (of which they sold 1.36 million copies just in their first three days), the RPGs also collectively sold over 6 million units worldwide during their launch week.
Naturally, that success extends to the game’s digital performance as well, as revealed by a recent report by SuperData. The two collectively sold 2.72 million digital units worldwide throughout November, easily outpacing the sales of other recent Nintendo first party Switch exclusives like Luigi’s Mansion 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Pokemon Sword and Shield were also the highest selling console game worldwide in November.
November was a successful month for other new launches as well, with the SuperData report revealing impressive digital sales for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as well. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 might have been hoping for better launch on PC.
