In spite of being a decidedly contrary to the approach EA usually takes with its games – in that it’s single player only and has no microtransactions – Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been a great success for its publisher, garnering universal acclaim and enjoying the second biggest launch for a Star Wars game in the US, and the fastest selling digital launch in Star Wars history.
And now, a report by SuperData delves into the launch sales of Fallen Order even further. Apparently, the Respawn Entertainment-developed action adventure title sold a total of 2.14 million units in November alone, while also becoming the biggest console launch in Star Wars history. It also outsold the launch month sales of Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) by 2 to 1.
Fallen Order was also the sixth highest grossing PC game worldwide throughout November, and the third highest grossing console game (behind Pokemon Sword and Shield and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare).
It’s no surprise given the success that Fallen Order is enjoying that EA will be eyeing more of the same from Respawn. And certainly, recent developments indicate that a sequel to Fallen Order might be in the works at the studio.
Meanwhile, EA Motive are also currently working on what they describe as a “very unique” Star Wars game, which might be out before the end of financial year 2021.
