Pokemon Sword and Shield Features a Track Composed by Undertale Creator Toby Fox

Toby Fox's partnership with Game Freak continues.

Last month, Game Freak’s indie RPG Little Town Hero launched on the Switch, and though it was a fairly unremarkable game in more ways than one, one thing about it that stood out was that it featured music co-composed by Toby Fox. For those who’re unaware, Toby Fox is creator of Undertale (he also made the game’s music).

As it turns out, Fox’s partnership with Game Freak bled out into something else beyond Little Town Hero. He recently took to Twitter to reveal that the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield will also feature a track composed by him, before saying that it’s “a huge honor to be asked to be part of something like this.” In a follow-up tweet, he added that his composition is “not a main track or anything.” “I just thought it was cool,” he finished.

Fox’s music has never been anything less than exceptional, and Pokemon is also a series that has always been known for great music, so this seems like an excellent match. I’m looking forward to hearing what he came up with.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are out for the Switch on November 15. You’ll need 9.5 GB of free storage on your system, while cloud saves will not be supported (unsurprisingly). Check out the new overview trailer through here.
