At the start of the seventh generation of consoles, many gamers were very interested in receiving backwards compatibility on their PlayStation 3 consoles. Sony did offered some sort of a functionality with the launch models and then slowly phased them out.
But according to a job listing at PlayStationJobs (spotted by thesixthaxis), Sony is looking for a “PlayStation 2 Emulation Debug Engineer”. The candidate should be Proficient in C/C++ programming, and experienced working with assembly code, and ,ust have PlayStation 2 platform experience, preferably PlayStation 3. “They should also have knowledge of PS2 subsystems such as IOP, VU, VIF” (whatever that means).
Personally, I am not sure what this is all about. Is Sony going for full backwards compatibility for the PlayStation 3 (again)?
Only time will tell. What do you guys think? Do you gamers still want full backwards compatibility for your PlayStation 3? Or are you cool with what you have?
