This may be yet another case of a console firmware upgrade doing more harm than good. After reports of loads of bricked consoles following firmware upgrades for all three systems earlier this generation, looks like Sony has rveived the trend with its firmware upgrade 3.41.
Allegedly, the firmware causes issues for users attempting to upgrade their hard drives.
PS3 users have been complaining that they are also having difficulty updating their system to firmware 3.41, often experiencing system crashes. The few that have managed to install a new hard drive have reported that the console does not recognize any data on the new HDD.
The latest firmware upgrade is notable for adding recommendations section to the PSN Store. However, we would recommend you to refrain from upgrading your system’s firmware until the issue is sorted out. We’ll keep you posted.
