As per Sony’s financial figures revealed for the first financial quarter of 2010 which ended June 31st, the PS3 has now sold 38.1 million units, selling 2.4 million units in Q1 2010.
The PS3 now 118 percent increase on the units sold last year in the same quarter, when it only sold a 1.1 million units. The PSP, which sold 1.3 million units in Q1 2009 fell to 1.2 million units sold in Q1 2010. Sony’s warhorse, the PS2, was well ahead of their handheld powerhouse, and sold a mighty 1.6 million units, considering as it’s four years outdated now.
The Networked Products & Services division of the company saw sales rise 32.4 per cent to 325 billion yen. 142 billion yen were earned via the gaming division of the market, and the rest via PCs.
The PS3 is still last of the three consoles in terms of sales. The Wii has now sold 74 million units, The Xbox 360 has sold 42 million units, whereas the PS3 has sols 38 million units (all these figures as of June 31, 2010).
