PS4 Formed The Bulk of Ubisoft’s Software Sales Again Last Quarter

Meanwhile, the Switch had a surprisingly stronger than expected showing.

The PS4 continues to reign supreme for third party sales for games; Ubisoft has released its latest financial report, and it has revealed there its breakdown of software sales for the last quarter. As expected, the PS4 continues to lead on this front, with 31% of Ubisoft’s software sales last quarter coming from Sony’s console- more than any other system managed.

The Xbox One had a healthy second place with 20% of all sales, narrowly edging out a surprisingly strong showing by the Nintendo Switch, which, with just two Ubisoft games, and a fraction of the install base the other systems have, accounted for 19% of all software sales for the publisher in this period- presumably, this can be accounted for when one considers that Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle came out on the Switch in August.

PC comes in at fourth place, with 15% of sales, with the other systems forming the remainder of their software sales.

Next quarter, thanks to the release of Assassin’s Creed, the share of PS4, Xbox One, and PC should rise, while Switch’s should decline- nonetheless, it is good to see Ubisoft finding success across all systems.
