PS4 Has Reportedly Sold More Than 30 Million Units In The US

Sony's console continues to hit new milestones.

The PS4’s sales might be slowing down – which is understandable, given that it’s approaching the end of its life as current gen console – but its still passing impressive sales milestones on a regular basis. Just a couple months back, Sony announced that the console had passed 100 million worldwide shipments, and now we have some new data for yet another sales milestone that it has passed.

According to Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, the PS4 has managed to sell through more than 30 million units in the United States, a number that amounts to roughly 30 per cent of its total worldwide sales. In comparison, in other top markets for the console, its sold through 8.3 million units in Japan (the number stood at 8 million at last count), 7.2 million units in Germany, and 6.8 million units in the United Kingdom.

The PS5 is due out later next year, so it goes without saying that the PS4’s sales will progressively keep slowing down from here on out, but given the long legs Sony’s systems usually have even after their successors have come out, it’s likely that there’s still a few more sales milestones yet that the PS4 has in its sights. After all, it is outpacing the PS2 and the Wii in terms of sales.
