Update: Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that the Twitter account of John Kodera was in fact a fake account. We would like to take this opportunity and apologize. You can check Yoshida’s tweet here.
Original story:
It was only recently that Andrew House had said goodbye to the gaming community as he was leaving his position of CEO at Sony Interactive Entertainment. John Kodera has now taken over this position and has even created a new Twitter handle so as to keep in touch with the community. In a couple of tweets, Kodera thanked Andrew House as well as the gaming community for their support. He then briefly discussed what the future of PlayStation will be.
We had earlier reported on a concern we had that under Kodera-san’s guidance, Sony may start expanding on the use of microtransactions in their games. However, when one person on Twitter asked John Kodera to continue focusing on single player games, Kodera-san’s response was that the company’s plan with Games-as-service is “totally different”.
As John Kodera assumes his new position of CEO, it should be exciting to see what new directions PlayStation will go in. It’s also a great relief that the company doesn’t plan to focus so much on GaaS, but instead will continue ensuring that PlayStation is “the best place to play.”
