It was announced a while ago that Andrew House would be leaving his position of CEO at Sony Interactive Entertainment. John Kodera will be taking over but Andrew House still holds the position of chairman currently. He was called on to stage at The Game Awards to bid farewell to the gaming community of which he has been an integral part for so long.

A video was shown before House came on stage as a tribute to his career. We get to see Andrew House in his younger days and his role promoting the PlayStation through the next generations. In his speech, he mentions the “great heights” which the team has scaled and also the dark and difficult periods they have had to go through and once again bringing it back “to success and relevance.” He goes on to state that “PlayStation has always been about the games” and that this has been reflected in every decision taken by the company in the design of the consoles.

He also expressed his gratitude for his fantastic team and tells them “You guys really are the best.”Of course, he also thanks the fans “for always being there and for always pushing us.” His greatest delight however has been in “forging relationships with highly creative people and helping them bring their visions to life.” As he correctly notes, emotions always tend to be bittersweet at such farewells, but let us hope the best for his future.
