The newest Japanese game sales charts are out, and it’s a good outlook for Nintendo, and not such a good one for PlayStation- the PS4 plummeted to just 4,000 systems sold in the entire country for the entire week, while the Wii U and 3DS both held steady. Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker and Splatoon, meanwhile, continue to impress.
Of course, before you go and call all doom and gloom on the PS4, it is probably worth your while to remember that next week is when the PS4 price drops by ¥10,000- that’s a 25% price drop, so sales of the console naturally fell, as people decided to wait for next week to buy it. Something similar happened with the Nintendo 3DS in the week before its major price cut, back in 2011.
So yeah, even though it looks bad, it’s not actually as bad as it looks.
