Sony PlayStation Japan has released a new video celebrating the modern PlayStation era’s sales figures, with the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita having sold over 100 million units collectively worldwide. This comes off the highly successful PS3 and red-hot PS4 (which has, interestingly enough, petered out in Japan). Check out the video in question above.
According to IGN though, this recent sales milestone provides a look at potential sales figures for the PS Vita. While Sony reported that the PS4 has sold over 7 million units since its release, combined with the PS3’s +80 million total, that would put the PS Vita’s sale at somewhere over 10 million units sold worldwide. By comparison, the Nintendo 3DS family along with the 2DS sold more than 42 million units worldwide as of December 2013.
Nonetheless, it shows that the PS Vita still has some legs. Sony hasn’t officially confirmed these numbers but it has revealed that the Vita is doing better than expected, especially in recent months for North America.
