PS4 Still Leads Software Sales for Ubisoft

PS4 continues to generate the most software sales for Ubisoft.

Ubisoft’s latest financial report is out, and as has been the case for a long time now, it reveals that Ubisoft still sells more games on the PS4 than on any other platform, with 38% of their total software sales coming from Sony’s console. PC is in second place, with 24% of all sales, and Xbox One in third place, with 22%. Nintendo Switch with 5% of all sales brings up the rear.

So there are two takeaways here- one, the PS4 seems to be where all Ubisoft releases sell the most, generally speaking. Two, the Nintendo Switch, in spite of having no substantial new release from Ubisoft since Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle last year, is still managing to bring the publisher a tidy share of software sales anyway.

Coming up, this quarter, the only new release Ubisoft has is Legendary Fishing for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, which… yeah, speaks for itself, really. On the other hand, the quarter after that will see the launch of several major games, including Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Starlink: The Battle for Atlas, with games such as Skull and Bones and The Division 2 lined up for early next year. So Ubisoft has a packed slate for a while to come now. That said, even if that weren’t the case, their back catalog continues to perform strongly enough to sustain them thanks to their post-launch support of games, as the financial report for this very quarter has shown.
