A new PlayStation 5 model revision is now available in Australia, according to Press-Start. It will be available in Japan starting on September 15th, as per Renka on Twitter, which is the same day as the console’s price increase.
In terms of what’s different, the CFI-1200 model is lighter. The disc-based console (CFI-1202A) now weighs 3.9 kg, which is 300 grams lighter than last year’s model (and 600 grams less than the launch version). The digital model (CFI-1202B) weighs 3.4 kg, 200 grams lighter than last year and 500 grams lighter than the launch version.
The model revisions follow a sudden price increase for the console in numerous locations. In Europe, the PS5 now costs €549.99, with the Digital Edition retailing for €449.99. The UK has to pay £479.99 for the disc-based console and £389.99 for the Digital Edition. But Japan’s price increase is perhaps the highest, with the disc-based console costing ¥60,478 (up from ¥49,980) and the Digital console retailing for ¥49,478 (up from ¥39,980).
