Well, a next generation of consoles is coming, and you know what that means: good old fashioned console warring. While the gaming industry is changing and what hardware actually means is potentially shifting, it won’t stop the speculation, and the angry fans butting heads to see whose system is going to be the best won’t stop anytime soon. The first bullet in the chamber comes from some speculation by Game Informer’s Andrew Reiner, who speculates that Sony’s PS5 is going to be more powerful than the next Xbox.
In a tweet from his official Twitter, which you can see below, Reiner talks about a rumor he’s been hearing that the PS5 will actually be the more powerful of the two systems. That would be an eerie echo of this generation, since the base PS4 ended up having a pretty decent power advantage over the base Xbox One (though this was flipped with the mid-gen refreshes for both consoles).
Of course, it’s just speculation from Reiner, and it’s impossible to tell right now. We have basic understanding of what the specs for Scarlett will be now, and it’s pretty hefty, so it’s hard to imagine a system significantly more powerful that would be remotely affordable. Only time will tell.
