PS5 Timed Exclusives Range From “A Few Months To A Couple Of Years”

13 titles are referenced as being part of the deal.

Yesterday, Sony finally pulled back the curtain on their much anticipated next generation console, the PS5. The show revealed the look of the machine, which you can see above (and what a look it is), and a host of games ranging from big to small. And some of them were timed exclusive to the platform, and by the sound of it, could be for quite some time.

As detailed via the official PlayStation Blog, there were 13 timed exclusive titles shown. Probably the most notable of those were Deathloop, GhostWire: Tokyo and Godfall. Generally speaking, we usually don’t hear about how long those deals are, but it seems they are being open about it, saying their timed exclusive deals will range “from a few months to a couple of years.” No details were given about which games fell into what time frame.

The big question that’s unclear is that almost all of those timed exclusives were also coming to PC, including the three I mentioned above. It’s unclear if the timed exclusive part only pertains to keeping games off the Xbox Series X, or if that also means the PC version will also come at a later date. Logic would dedicate that since those versions were announced in tandem they would launch on the same day, but since we got no solid dates for any of the games shown yet, it’s impossible to say at the moment. At the very least, a large portion of the games shown yesterday won’t be on a Xbox console for at least several months.
