PSN Buckles Under Server Load Thanks To Black Friday Digital Sales

PSN is down again, but at least with a legitimate reason this time.

Stores around North America know what the rush on Black Friday, when sometimes shoppers literally numbering in the thousands, descend upon them to avail of some killer deals, can be like. But now, it appears as though even digital storefronts aren’t safe from the stress- for instance, PSN appears to be having server issues in the wake of the excellent Black Friday game sale that went live earlier today.

Users are reporting that they are getting a maintentance message on the PlayStation Store, with the error code ‘WC-40383-8’. Sony’s technical team has issued a statement, and said that it’s aware of outage issues with the PSN and its engineers are working hard to get things back online. While some users are starting to see services being restored, on the whole, getting online on PSN seems to be a coin flip for now.

We’ll keep you posted on PSN’s status- we know you want to grab some of those excellent games for yourself.
