A little over a month ago, Sony formally announced PlayStation VR2, giving it an official name, sharing technical details and specs for the headset, talking more about its new Sense controllers, and more. Now, the official webpage for the upcoming virtual reality headset has also gone live.
Primarily, the webpage touts much of the details that Sony has talked about so far, including the specifications and capabilities of the headset and the key characteristics of the Sense controllers, with the likes of inside out tracking, eye tracking, haptic feedback, finger touch detection, and more being highlighted. Through the page, Sony is also inviting users to sign up for pre-orders- though when exactly pre-orders will go live remains to be seen.
Of course, there’s no word yet on when PSVR2 will launch either. Reports have claimed that it will enter production soon, and that it’s targeting Holiday 2022 launch, though whether or not that ends up happening, especially considering the global semiconductor shortage, remains to be seen.
Horizon Call of the Mountain has already been announced for PSVR2 and is in the works at Fireprite and Guerrilla. Meanwhile, reports have also claimed that Half-Life: Alyx will launch on PSVR2 as well. As for whether or not the new headset will be able to play the original PSVR’s library remains to be seen.
