QuakeCon 2023 Announced for August 10th to 13th

The BYOC returns after three years of digital-only events, but there will also be a "full slate of programming" for online viewing.

id Software has announced that QuakeCon 2023 takes place from August 10th through 13th. It marks the first BYOC since 2019, with the previous three years being digital-only (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). In addition to a LAN party, there will also be a “full slate of programming” streamed on Twitch.

Marty Stratton, id Software head, said, “QuakeCon is our favorite event of the year, and we can’t wait to finally see our incredible QuakeCon community in-person again, celebrate games, and frag all weekend with thousands of friends. For our first year back, QuakeCon 2023 is focusing on the fan favorite BYOC and the players that made QuakeCon the best gaming gathering for more than 25 years.”

Registrations begin soon, with the event limited to those who have registered beforehand. Though there won’t be General Admission or an exhibit hall, fans can expect community events and the final of the Quake World Championships with Quake Champions. Stay tuned for the full program and features soon.

With the focus on BYOC, it remains to be seen if titles like Bethesda’s Starfield appear. Though there will be a dedicated showcase in June, it releases on September 6th for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Nevertheless, this should be good news for Quake fans who have missed meeting in person and playing together at a massive LAN party over the years.
