Quantum Break Was Originally Planned To Be Alan Wake 2

'We said, let's make it something bigger.'

Quantum Break looks absolutely incredible- Remedy’s third person action game looks like it will go down as one of the best titles of this year, which is no mean feat. However, Remedy originally intended for Quantum Break to be something else entirely. When they first pitched it, they pitched it as a follow up to their beloved, cult classic Xbox 360 game Alan Wake.

“Initially we went there with the pitch for Alan Wake 2,” said Remedy’s Sam Lake. “That did have a live action show as part of the pitch. We had been doing small things, and tests with live action, and I was interested in pushing it further. And they got really excited because they were talking about having that as a big thing. They even said to us, why not make it even bigger? And we were happy to take that! And say yes, let’s make it bigger!”

And so, it morphed into something far bigger than Alan Wake– and while Quantum Break looks awesome, it is a shame that we won’t get the Alan Wake sequel just yet.

Ah well. Quantum Break launches next month on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
