Rainbow Six: Patriots Still in Development, “Something Worth Waiting for”

Ubisoft says the project is "still cooking".

Ubisoft Toronto has recently released Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and we’ve already heard about Tom Clancy’s The Division, developed by Ubisoft Massive, heading to the PC. But what about Rainbow Six, arguably the franchise that set the ball rolling for tactical shooters? More specifically, is the next addition in the franchise – Rainbox Six: Patriots – still a thing, despite Ubisoft Toronto saying it wrapped up work on the same?

According to executive director Alain Corre while speaking to IGN, the answer seems to be yes as it is “still cooking. It’s an important franchise for Ubisoft. We want to make sure, on this one, like all the other games we’re working on, that we bring it when we feel it’s perfect.”

Corre was dodgy on whether it would have the same premise as before. “What we want is to have a compelling story. We want people who play the next Rainbow 6 to be astonished, to be very pleased with what they see.”

But Patriots is “something worth waiting for,” and will only be truly finalized when they’re satisfied with the concept in mind.
