Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App Confirmed

Although we’ll have to wait for details on what exactly the app does.

Rockstar has confirmed that, much like with Grand Theft Auto 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 will be receiving a companion app. The companion app will connect to the game on PS4 and Xbox One, directly as you play.

Presumably, it will let you track your progress and stats directly from it, while also letting you manage some mini games and activities from it, but that is all just speculation on my end, based on how companion apps typically go—to be clear, Rockstar themselves have not actually confirmed what the companion app does.

Instead, they have said that they will have more details for the companion app forthcoming later today, so we’ll have to wait for then to know exactly what all this app even entails. Hopefully it’s at least as useful as the GTA 5 one was (that one was very useful). What we do know is that the app will be available for iOS and Android smartphones the day of the game’s launch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launches for PS4 and Xbox One on October 26 (that is, this Friday). If you want to see the full map for the game, make sure to check out our report on that here.
