Red Dead Redemption 2 has enjoyed perennial success since its original launch in 2018, and with consistently impressive sales in the years that have followed, it recently hit 57 million shipments worldwide. Meanwhile, the open world title has also been enjoying a massive resurgence on one platform in particular.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently being sold on Steam at a significant 67% discount, and that sale has contributed to an explosion in its engagement numbers. As per SteamDB, over the weekend, the game hit a concurrent user count of 77,655 players, which, incidentally, is the highest it has ever been for the title since it launched for PC in 2019. At the time of writing, the game is being played by 25,284 players- an impressive number for a game that’s half a decade old.
Of course, Rockstar is no stranger to older releases enjoying prolonged, sustained success, with Grand Theft Auto 5 still being one of the most widely played games around the world. Doubtless, the company will be expecting similar longevity from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, which is set to be unveiled in early December.
