Yesterday, we reported that Red Dead Redemption 2’s NPCs would change their behaviour based on your HUD settings. Essentially, the story was that if you have your minimap turned off, the NPCs would have different dialog, and they would give you detailed directions and instructions on places in the world that you need to go to.
This, as it turns out, is not true. Video games journalist Alanah Pearce, who works at Funhaus, put up an update on her Twitter page, saying that she’s received clarification that suggest otherwise. Dialog for NPCs will remain the same regardless of whether or not you have your mini map turned off. NPCs will give you detailed instructions regardless, it’s just that they’ll naturally be more noticeable and be more useful if your mini map is turned off.
Either way, NPC interactions and their dynamic nature in Red Dead Redemption 2 are promising to be something truly special. Recently, Rockstar talked about how they’re going to be a “huge leap forward”. Read more about that through here. Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on October 26 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
