Red Dead Redemption 2 On PC Does Not Have Ray Tracing, NVIDIA Confirms

A small disappointment for a big game.

It’s been a long year for those waiting for Red Dead Redemption 2 to finally hit the PC. But the time has come, and it’s going to be a big game (in more ways than one when you look at the size of the pre-load for the PC version). While the game is sure to have plenty of options and features to take advantage on this new platform, there is one it seemingly will lack: ray tracing.

In a tweet from the original NVIDIA Twitter, they posted some 4K screenshots featuring the game which had the GeForce RTX logo on them. They later followed up to clarify they didn’t mean to imply that meant the PC port of the game would have ray tracing in anyway and confirmed it, in fact, did not have the feature.

It’s a slight disappointment, but I’ll go on a limb and say for many of those waiting it won’t be a deal breaker when the game drops on PC November 5th. You can watch the PC launch trailer to hype yourself in the meantime.
