While Rockstar’s early successes were on PC, ever since the company hit the big time with Grand Theft Auto III, it’s had, at best, a strained relationship with the platform. Most of its games do still end up coming out on PC, though they get delayed releases, often by months. And then there are games like the original Red Dead Redemption, which never came out on PC at all.
And while a lot of that had to do with the game’s troubled development leading to its code base being very volatile and unsuitable for porting (which is also the reason it never got a remaster for current gen, for example), some were wondering if the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 might also end up skipping out on PC. Certainly, the game so far has only been announced for PS4 and Xbox One- but there’s always a chance it gets a delayed PC release like other Rockstar games, right?
Reddit user TheInsightfulWatcher points out that that may be the case- he discovered that a former Rockstar employee’s LinkedIn profile lists a PC version of the game. While there’s always the chance that it may just be an error, I don’t think someone would make an error like that about their job experience- it doesn’t exactly reflect well on you if you make such a mix up about the platforms you worked on.
Assuming, then, that the leak refers to an actual PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, the question remains of when it may come out- while we wait for that to happen, there is always the PS4 and Xbox One release coming this October.
