Rockstar are the masters of marketing- they know how to get attention for their games from the biggest possible audience. So it didn’t come as a much of a surprise to most of us when a trailer (the reveal trailer for the game, actually) aired during the football game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
But that little maneuver cost Rockstar a pretty penny, it sounds like. According to Advertising Age, the cost for a 30 second spot during Sunday Night Football averages $717,375. Which means that the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer, which actually comes in at over a minute (but which may have been trimmed a little for TV), likely cost Rockstar at least $1.4 million.
Of course, Rockstar probably made that money back in a couple of minutes, thanks to the continuing success of GTA Online– small wonder it is, then, that Red Dead Online is slated to be such major part of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. Red Dead Redemption 2 is due out in Fall 2017 on Xbox One and PS4.
