Crytek had a cool game in the works named Redemption, which they cancelled for reasons unknown. It’s completely normal for a big studio like Crytek to work on some prototypes that will never see the light of the day, but when such materials leak, and actually looks fantastic, you have to wonder why it was cancelled.
The art director of Redemption, Eric Cochoneau, released a lot of images and other information on his website, which we have posted below for your convenience.
The game was in development at Crytek Frankfurt and was scheduled to be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
His responsibilities:
Art direction including research and defining the visual style/overall look & feel for the game. Directing and managing a team of 3 concept artists/mood painters & a team of 10 in-house production artists. Project management using Agile Development (SCRUM). Quality control over all art assets. Contribution to the implementation of tools & visual features for the CryEngine also used in “Crysis”.
