Gunfire Games launched Remnant 2 several weeks ago to strong critical acclaim, selling over one million copies in less than week. It had some issues, which the team has been handling, but there are also questions about upcoming features, like crossplay. While it wasn’t discussing the same before launch, game director David Adams has confirmed that the team is “looking at it.”
In a recent Reddit AMA, Adams said, “Yes, we are looking at it. There are issues with the different platforms and what they require to allow crossplay, but it is being actively worked on.”
Of course, there are also issues like the bug with PS5 Invites. Adams replied that he thinks it “just got buried” and that in the future, the developer will support joining friends directly from the Join menu. “All your friends should show up on that menu by priority (they even have a convenient friend icon in the latest patch). You can also join your friends from the friends list in the main menu.
“The invite feature is something we will have to continue to work on as Sony has some requirements that don’t jive well with our matchmaking solution. But I would hope that being able to see and join your friend’s games at will should suffice for most cases.”
Remnant 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our review of it here. Along with balance patches and quality-of-life updates, the team is working on three post-launch paid DLC that will add new environments and creatures. All three packs will release within the game’s first year, so stay tuned for more details.
